Oh, my G.O.D!
June 7, 2008
I have, or think I have some insanely awesome news…but it’s not written in stone and I don’t want to jinx myself, so I’ll save it for a later post. I just wanted to share because I just found out this morning and I’m totally freaking out. I feel like I have to throw up, but in the best way possible. ^.^
(Update: I just reread what I wrote and the whole, found out this morning and wanting to throw up part made it sound like something else, but it’s not that. <<knock on wood.)
In other news…
Charlie and I went out with some friends last night to a $5 all you can drink (unless the tap breaks) and free live music shin dig. For some reason when I hear the word, “keg”, or ”keger”; I think of frat parties, so I was kind of dreading going, but…A Viking, a broken keg, running in to old random AI buddies, and a “Yo, wrap that shit up, B!”, in a cappella form made for a seriously good time. I wanna do it over again, but this time with a camera!
And, just because I’ve been on a reggae kick lately..
Sleepy and the Sun.
June 5, 2008
I’m falling alseep over here and am about to have a keyboard print on my forehead. I’m in need of something to wake me up and welcome the ever so loved sun. - – - And, what better then a Jewish reggae artist to do just that. He’s not new and I’m pretty sure everybody and their mama’s and papa’s has heard of him…but he just really gives me that boost that I’m looking for.

What happened to the sun?

Today is wet and dreary; and I’m sitting here at work staring at the computer. I’d much rather be at home sitting cozy on the couch with a book and listening to Nina Simone.

Emi = Beautiful
May 27, 2008
The weekend was great. It felt like a mini vacation. I wish we could just hang out with the kids all the time and do whatever. Oh, wouldn’t it be nice…
I just wanted to post Emi’s current favorite song. It just kills me how adorable she is riding her bike and singing this. She got really upset with lil’ Charlie this morning because he was singing along to it, and well since it’s her song she wasn’t too thrilled about it. lol. kids.

I wanna DANCE!
May 24, 2008

Okay…I’m really itchin’ to move my feet. I’m seriously having withdraws from lack of dancing (not really). And, I don’t want to go just anywhere; I can’t stand that bling bling modern hip hop or Justin Timberlake crap. I want Beauty Bar music!! If there is anyone who knows what a Beauty Bar is or knows of IHEARTCOMIX RECORDS label, and knows of a good place that will play good underground pop punk and electronic dance music…please please, pretty please tell me. I’m not from Indy and am in dyer need of this info. Seriously, they need to open a Beauty Bar here.- I mean I do need a place to go and get a manicure while sipping a martini listening to fabulous music.
Well, here’s a sample of want I have in mind…

“doing kickflips in my dreams”
May 22, 2008

I remember being super giddy after hearing “Later Operator” for the first time a few years ago. It’s seriously probably the cutest song ever. The All Girl Summer Fun Band, is like strawberry shortcake topped with whip cream. They even wrote a song about my tv hunk crush, Jason Lee. E!!
Setting Sail to Beirut
May 21, 2008

The winter is over…and I’ve gone and lost myself in this song again; just like I have a thousand times before. Beirut is such a great band. They have a new album, The Flying Club Cup, but this one is from their previous album, Gulag Orkestar, it somehow always gets me drifting off into lala land; setting sail from the banks of the Rhine. Trust me, it’s a wonderful place to be. I’ve gone there many times. You should join me some time.

I’m not feeling all that well, and I’m really tired. I have a couple more hours and I can go home and relax; maybe take some nyquil and pass out.
I started my voice and piano lessons last Friday, which has gotten me really inspired; just wish I had the energy to do something. My instructor didn’t say I was hopeless or don’t come back, so that’s a good sign, yeah. I’m sure he needs the money, so why would he. No, really I think it went well…can’t wait for the next lesson.
Ooh, and Charlie, being the great husband he is, bought me a new keyboard this weekend. It’s lovely. I love it. He’s the best!
And, since I’m here I’ll post what I’ve been listening to all day. They go perfectly with the gray clouds, cool winds, and the pitter patter of the raindrops.
They’re an Icelandic quartet with a minimalist style. Soft. Lovely. And, delicate.
